Vickramabahu represents Tamils -British Tamil Forum

The British Tamils Forum (BTF) says that there are only two candidates including the Common Left Candidate Vickramabahu Karunaratne in the presidential election that represents Tamils.

Suren Surendiran representing BTF in a live discussion with Al Jazeera television on the Sri Lankan presidential election pointed out Dr. Vickramabahu saying that Tamils in Sri Lanka need self determination.

The BTF spokesman also referred to the Tamil Presidential Candidate MK Shivajilingam describing President Rajapaksa and General Fonseka as war criminals.

Responding to a question by Al Jazeera News hour on Sunday on the 24^th of January as to why there is no leadership representing the views of the Tamils when the TNA is backing Sarath Fonseka, the BTF spokesman said, “there are two  candidates representing the Tamil people. Dr. Vickramabahu is saying that Tamils need self determination in Sri Lanka. Mr. Shivajilingam is standing and saying that these two men are war criminals.”

Suren Surendiran was telling Al Jazeera that both Mahinda Rajapaksa and Sarath fonseka are to blame for the killing of 20,000 people within a few weeks and making hundreds of thousands homeless.

In a country where many views are banned, the BTF spokesman said that the election to be held on the 26^thof January will not be free and fair.

BTF was the main organisation that organised massive anti-war Tamil demonstrations in London.
